Griffon is a being comprised concentrated demonic mental illness. Literally a guy cut all his "weakness" out of himself and part of that was his "nightmares" (trauma) and some of that trauma solidified into pokemon and one of those pokemon is Griffon. He is modeled after a very old very powerful demon but he himself is pretty mid. He is lightning elemented, and his body is pretty unstable. Like low-key dying until someone does something about it but y'know who cares. Feel free to be able to perceive all of the above, most perceptive people in canon are just like "what the fuck is THAT" but people in DMC are generally confused most of the time.

He belongs already to V (Raven) and to a lesser extent Vergil and would not contract to anyone outside the family without a LOT of development. Also he's a rude little shit! And sometimes having someone disrespect your character is fun and then sometimes it's very much not and I totally get that. If he is being rude in a way that is not fun for you the player, please please please feel free to tap me. I am always willing to dial it back or retcon or have something stupid happen to him.
